OMG. But there are too many links there ;) Too many to visit, it will take me weeks to check them all. And yay for clones ;)

There are plans at FF dolls forum to make a Barbie playline identification site, I'll let you know if it works out. Let's keep our fingers crossed, we really need a good site like that.

Thanks for the great news:) I just tried to log in to FFbarbies but it seems I got deleted for lurking, yet again lol. Are you getting involved in that project:)? I wonder how it's gonna work... There are generally two ways to create such a site - it can be either designed for browsing through a gazillion of photos ordered by year, feature tags etc or it can be an algorithm-based search tool (like the great pony id site Dream Valley) narrowing your query by just asking questions. I'm not sure which one would work better in our case, but I'd go with browsing on one's own... The reason is I love the very idea of endless searching, even when it's "in the dark":D Quite mind-broadening;) Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading any further news!

It's going to be Wikipedia-style Barbie ID site, at least that's what the plans are. I think it would be great if it looked like that but it has to have a lot of clear pictures and good descriptions. There are so many playline dolls and so many variations that only if everybody contributes it's possible to make a comprehensive list.
In the meantime check out this Mattel PDF! It has Barbie's friends from 1980 to 2004! O.O

Wikipedia-style ID site, sounds fantastic! And thanks for the link - I've had that pdf for some time now and I think I spotted some big and ongoing chronological mistake there one time, even tho it's official... XD But maybe I have some older version and it's already been fixed in this one, I'm gonna compare the two when I have some free time. Just to warn you guys, be careful if you're gonna use it as reference;) (On the other hand - if we cannot trust Mattel themselves then whom;)?)

I haven't checked the dates in this pdf yet but year ID is always the hard part for me, different year on the box, different year when the doll was released... And no, we can't trust Mattel, as an ex-X-phile "Trust No One" is always my policy ;)

The B-List - Wiki-style playline site, that's how it's called - not much there yet, I hope it will work. I'd like to try to contribute but I don't have much time now :(
